  • You must be 18 years or older to possess or purchase cannabis in Alberta, or to be admitted into an licensed store
  • You can carry a maximum of 30 grams of dried cannabis (or equivalent) in public at any time.
  • You can consume cannabis in some public spaces in Alberta but municipalities have the power to create additional restrictions on public use—know your local laws.
  • Cannabis consumption is banned in vehicles. Driving high is illegal and penalties are the same as alcohol-impaired driving.
