Sour moods continue in Vancouver over last month’s 420 “protest-ival.”

The Parks Board, which passed a motion to cancel the event that organizers flatly ignored, has an ally in Vancouver city council, which voted to explore a lawsuit against organizers “to recover costs for resources allocated by the City of Vancouver, the Park Board or any other civic agency and/or organization that receives funding from the City of Vancouver Operating Budget.”

At the same time, supporters of the festival began tweeting that the Board kept what appeared to be a verdant and healthy field fenced off from public access at the event location—the subtext being that the Parks Board was keeping Sunset Beach Park closed to irritate park-goers and shift the blame to 420 organizers.

Park Board chair John Coupar didn’t appreciate the implication, shooting back, “Our professional #Vancouver @ParkBoard staff make all decisions related to turf damage and repair. I understand that the grass field required aeration, top dressing and seeding #nospin #FactsMatter.”

Watch this space as the fight continues, perhaps until all of us grow very old.
