Find out our first impressions after giving 3CHI’s newest cannabinoid product a spin.

It’s no surprise to see 3CHI back and turning heads with another new innovation in the hemp space. As the first producer to bring delta-8 to the hemp scene, 3CHI has a longtime reputation for making new cannabinoid products accessible to consumers nationwide while maintaining high standards in product purity & testing.

The delta-9o collection is the latest innovation to join 3CHI’s deep catalog of hemp-derived highlights.

The delta-9o collection is the latest innovation to join 3CHI’s deep catalog of hemp-derived highlights. Made from high-quality, organic hemp, delta-9o from 3CHI is available in vape cartridge and disposable formats, and will soon be available in 3CHI’s nifty Dab Droppers format, with a sauce-like consistency in easy-to-dose packaging.

3CHI sent this writing team samples of their new delta-9o vapes so we could experience it firsthand and report back on how this collection stands out from products like delta-8, THC-O, and delta-9. While research on the cannabinoid is still in its infancy, in this article, we’ll break down what we currently know about delta-9o and what we experienced when we tried out 3CHI’s newest collection.

The scoop on delta-9o

So, what is delta-9o? Short for delta-9 THC-O-acetate, delta-9o is similar to delta-9 THC, but like with THC-O, an acetyl group is added to hemp extract to create a uniquely bioavailable compound.

The effects of delta-9o are said to be similar to delta-9—the key difference lies in the fact that the addition of the acetyl group means the compound must be metabolized before it becomes active. After consumption, delta-9o goes through a process called deacetylation in the liver where the acetyl group is removed.

Because of this process, the delta-9 THC left behind is thought to be more bioavailable than conventional delta-9. Consequently, the effects experienced from delta-9o are said to be more potent and longer lasting than typical delta-9.

The metabolization aspect of delta-9o also means that effects can take more time to kick in. 3CHI advises waiting at least 20 minutes after taking 1-2 puffs from their delta-9o vape cartridges and disposables before consuming more so you can gauge how the product affects you.

The effects experienced from delta-9o are described as being quite similar to delta-9 THC, with the same potential for euphoria, appetite stimulation, relief from pain, and sleep benefits as are associated with traditional delta-9.

Similar to THC-O, where the acetyl group is added to delta-8 extract to accomplish increased bioavailability—and hence, potency—and then delta-8 is left behind with its unique effects after metabolization, delta-9o works in the same way with delta-9 extract as its base.

Another unique aspect of delta-9o is the quality of the oil. 3CHI reports that their delta-9o is much less viscous than delta-9 THC, making for smoother, more satisfying pulls when vaping the extract.

3CHI shipped this writing team two different delta-9o vape varieties so we could see for ourselves how delta-9o stands out from the pack. A Blue Dream delta-9o disposable and an Ice Cream Cake delta-9o cartridge arrived promptly at our door, another big benefit of hemp’s federally legal status.

First, a quick note on 3CHI’s packaging: sturdy and well-designed, 3CHI’s vape packaging protects your purchase and provides a QR code directly on the back of the box linking you to the third-party Certificate of Analysis for the specific product in your hand. It provides huge peace of mind to have that information handy and shows 3CHI’s commitment to offering only transparently produced products.

The disposable is free from unnecessary bells & whistles or flashy colors. Palm-sized and well-constructed with a simple black finish, it’s an ideal take-anywhere companion. It’s rechargeable via micro-USB, and we only needed to recharge once while enjoying the full 1ml disposable. The cart is similarly well-built and straightforward—it easily attached to a 510-thread battery.

With the first inhale, it was clear 3CHI’s claims of a smooth pull hold up. Not only did the draw-activated response work smoothly and without needing to pull too hard with the disposable, but you’re also instantly rewarded with large, botanic, clean-tasting clouds.

Some lesser vape products can leave a coated feeling on your teeth or hit you with a heavy, hempy flavor—here, not so—even after getting comfortable with potency levels and taking multiple pulls in a row, we experienced a nice, barely sweet, light-feeling vapor.

The delta-9o high

Following 3CHI’s directions, we took two solid pulls and waited for a high to take effect. True to its description, the high came on a bit slower than with a typical delta-9 vape—after about 15-20 minutes, there it was: a nice, substantial head high and the familiar body-warming effect of delta-9.

As a frequent cannabis consumer, this writer’s tolerance level is on the higher side of the spectrum. With delta-9 vapes, I often feel like it takes a good number of draws to start feeling effects. With both the Blue Dream disposable and the Ice Cream Cake cart, I didn’t experience an overwhelming potency, on the contrary, it felt as if I was able to achieve the level of high I often experience smoking whole-flower cannabis with just a few pulls from the delta-9o vapes.

As with any cannabinoid product, it’s important to start low and go slow to determine how the product will affect you personally. For me, I could draw on the disposable or my pen throughout the night, as I normally would smoking cannabis flower, to achieve a noticeable, enjoyable high that increased to a lovely stoniness as I puffed on.

Three observations stood out above the others from my delta-9o experience:

  • It delivered an appetite-stimulating high that would likely be very familiar to THC lovers. I had some leftover Halloween candy in the house before these samples arrived. I no longer have any leftover Halloween candy in the house, thanks to assistance from the Blue Dream disposable.
  • At the end of an evening enjoying the Ice Cream Cake cart, I was sleepy. As in, falling asleep on the couch with the TV on sleepy. If you’re interested in THC to help with sleep troubles, a delta-9o product is something to consider.
  • Early on after receiving these samples, I ran out of whole-flower cannabis. Living in an adult-use state and being a frequent consumer, I would typically always make time for a run to a nearby dispensary to restock my stash. But since I was enjoying a substantial delta-9o high from the 3CHI vape samples, I didn’t feel like I needed to. I happily vaped those products until they ran out, not feeling the need to supplement with traditional cannabis.

Now you have the download on this writing team’s experience with 3CHI’s new delta-9o collection, but you don’t need to take our word for it: you can head to the 3CHI website to shop their selection of strains and pick out your very own delta-9o cart or disposable and see for yourself the difference this emerging cannabinoid can make.
