Flo OG

9/30/2019
This strain is a super light feeling, relaxing indica that promotes a sense of ease. Personally, it did more for mental relaxation and pain relief than it did for insomnia, however, that makes is a pretty perfect day time indica strain. Many reviews mentioned a medical application for migraine and headache relief. In hindsight, Flo OG aided in headache relief after a long shift after work. This strain was also perfect for socializing and easing my social anxiety to crowds at sporting event this past weekend. The high was phenomenal and hit hard and lasted for a long time. Flo is definitely a fitting name for such an easy going indica strain. This is a far cry from the heavy handed indica strains that couch lock and make you crash out... which really has its place for weekend warriors and productive people!

Granddaddy Purple

9/9/2019
Without question, this strain is my go-to sleep aid. Hands down. Not only will it relax you to sleep, melting away stress and worries; it’s phenomenal anti-inflammatory qualities numb any aches and pains for a long and restful night’s sleep. As an indica fanatic, I can smoke this anytime through out the day. Mainly, I would do so for the pain relief from my chronic back pain. However, I also enjoy napping so if I crash out I don’t mind it. The sweet, berry aroma and orangey/purple hues are tell tale signs of the deep Indica effects and how relaxed and calm you will be even after a couple hits. Definitely not for the faint of heart as you could easily end up couch locked or possibly even snoring if you aren’t careful. However, I smoke this strain in the evenings and at night casually and it isn’t until I’m puffing my last bowl, reading my book in bed, that the extra sleepiness kicks in. Just how I like it.

Wedding Cake

8/19/2019
All I can say is WOW! A series of happy little accidents is how I stumbled upon this strain. I was looking for a deep indica to aid with my anxiety, chronic back pain, as well as persistent insomnia. Originally I was set on a Kush hybrid (obviously an indica dominant variety) when my homie suggested Wedding Cake saying it would be much better for my symptoms. Initially I assumed this strain as sativa dominant; my assumption being that wedding cake would allow you to stay “up” and perform on such an occasion as a wedding night (which I also have upcoming as well but I digress). The nugs were super impress; dark, hairy, dense, fragrant - all indica indicators. Against my preconceived notion, I rolled with his suggestion. From the first toke, I instantly felt mental clarity. The feeling wasn’t like the hyperactive energy I get from sativas, rather a sense of focus and calm. Any anxiety, stress, or depression melted away. I took a few more rips, and felt a warm anti inflammatory sensation surround my body. Aches and pains in my lower back began to dissipate as I smoked. Just what the doctor ordered. However, as I continued to smoke the second bong load, a super strong indica high took effect, the infamous “couch lock”. I welcomed it, others might not. I didn’t end up sleeping, just vegging out a bit. This feeling isn’t as pronounced as other indicas (Grand Daddy Purple, Pre 98 Bubba Kush etc.), but later that evening it did help me fall fast asleep. Another interesting effect is that I don’t normally get the munchies when I smoke, but this strain definitely gave me an appetite for sweets! Ironically I indulged with a slice of cake! This strain is ideal for me, both medically and recreationally. Personally, there are absolutely not negative effects. I cannot sing Wedding Cake’s praises enough! There is a lot to enjoy with this strain! Break off a slice and let the bliss persist!

Bubba Kush

8/6/2019
I’ve always heard that Bubba Kush is a phenomenal indica and one that comes highly recommend for insomnia and (back) pain. However, in my own personal experience, I have found it to actually be a middle of the road type of indica. A friend of mine, a cannabis aficionado since the 60s, explained it by saying that this almost universally readily available strain has more than likely been crossed with other strains at other points, making it somewhat of a mutt strain. The constants of Bubba Kush being the big, round nugs and sweet, almost bubblegum like fragrance. In terms of effect, it hits me more of a hybrid. It obviously is on the indica side, however it doesn’t help with insomnia and it isn’t all that great for pain. It is wonderful for anxiety and depression. If you lean towards the indica side of the spectrum, this strain is perfectly enjoyed with outdoor recreation or a night out. If you want a sleepiness and anti inflammatory qualities, turn towards the Pre-98 variety of Bubba Kush (which I’ve also reviewed and is a top 5 favorite strain of mine). Though acquiring that might not be as easy to come by. But if plain Jane Bubba Kush is all that’s available, I’m not necessarily at a loss. Definitely good bang for your buck.

Kashmir Kush

7/30/2019
Kashmir Kush is a very exotic and top shelf strain that’s earthy, sweet, and coffee like aroma is intoxicating. The dark green/purple tinted/almost blue nugs are a dead indicator to the dreamy and calming high you will receive after you smoke the Kashmir Kush. Ultimately, this strain lives up to the high brow reputation. It’s exotic and will calm and bring you down to earth. I used this for relieving my anxiety after high stress situations or panic attacks. It’s good for sleep in that it will calm and relax the body and mind. However, due to my insomnia issues, it’s a good starter but I turned to a heavier handed indica (grand daddy purple, purple punch, etc.) prior to bed to really set me over the edge. It’s very good for pain though. All in all, Kashmir is a solid strain to spend a day listening to music, working on artwork, or kicking it on the couch watching movies. The same qualities of this strain that will calm anxious nerves will also relax those who want to unwind after a long day of work or a chill weekend hanging out and taking it easy. Lastly, for full effect listen to Led Zep’s Kashmir the first time you toke this!

NYC Diesel

7/22/2019
Famed and fabled; here in the southwest the NYC Sour Diesel was a myth for a while to me. This strain is a hybrid with sativa dominant qualities that actually benefit me and don’t increase my anxiety and paranoia. As others have mentioned it gives a calming indica effect from the indica side which is really good for stress. The sativa side however, provided me with clear headed energy and focus. I was able to unwind after an early morning work shift, clean house, entertain friends in the evening, and crash out before working early the next day all thanks to the balance of this hybrid. Any indica dominant strain would’ve required me to nap somewhere in between all those activities (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing haha). The sharp, heady, sativa buzz is not present and it really delivers the best of both worlds. The stories of it helping to fuel the excitement of the big apple are true. If NYC Sour D ever crosses your path be sure to greet it with open arms!

White Lotus

7/11/2019
This strain is a pretty standard indica hybrid, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The noteworthy indica effects such as deep relaxation, pain relief, and drowsiness are present, however they aren’t as potent as other strains. I didn’t really feel much of a sativa effect at all, and quite possibly it served to only downplay the indica potency, White Lotus is a solid day time indica if you want pain or stress relief while still being able to have clear headed motivation. Personally, I would want something stronger as I suffer from back pain and require a deep indica strain in order to fall asleep. That being said, it did not meet my needs. Although I would recommend it to beginning smokers who want to move towards indica dominant strains.

Banana OG

7/8/2019
Banana OG is the epitome of a creeper strain. The first day I tried it the strain hit extremely hard like a sativa within the first few hits. My mind was racing and I felt very energized and euphoric. The next few bowls and hours later, the indica effects really began to be felt strongly as I felt more and more sedated. Eventually this strain caused me to fall asleep with the TV on, something I rarely do nowadays that I’m accustomed to generally smoking indica/indica dominant hybrids regularly. That was actually a welcomed feeling. The more I’ve smoked this strain and gotten used to it, the effects aren’t as polarizing. I’m actually smoking a bowl of this train topped with keef and some wax and it still isn’t quite as heavy handed as when I first tried it. Needless to say, go easy on this strain at first. But it really is wonderful and extremely helpful for managing stress, pain, and insomnia. A must try strain for any indica lover!

GG4

6/25/2019
This is a very fabled strain for me that I sought after for a long time. About a year ago on a work trip my coworker offered to smoke me out after a long day of work. As he is packing the bowl I smelled the strong and pungent odor and instantly new it was dank. I asked what strain and he responded “OG Glue aka GG4 aka Larry Bird”. First bong hit in and I am super lifted. The stress and sore muscles of the long day evaporated. We smoked all of his glue that day! Months and months pass and I dream of the high from that day. It hit like when I first started blazing years and years ago. To my surprise that friend texts me saying he has come across the legendary Glue again! I picked up close to an ounce! This is a super potent indica with dense, soft, hazy white, and crumbly buds. This strain is both a super potent medicinally as well as recreationally relaxing strain. Most strains don’t make me giddy or excited these days and this one does. I would ad if used sparingly it works well for anxiety/depression. Personally I want to get the full effect so this is perfect after a long day of work or a stoned out weekend! If you stumble upon this strain during your quests, don’t hesitate to pick it up in large quantities! You won’t be disappointed and I guarantee it will exceed your expectations!

Purple Punch

6/7/2019
Wow! One of the strongest indicas I have ever tried. Hands down. Incredible look, taste, as well as both medical and recreational potency. Honestly, when I first heard the name Purple Punch, I expected dark, purple nugs. Instead, this strain is a combo dark green and dark purple that is extremely pleasing to look at. The taste is super sweet and rich. Upon the first hit I felt and instantly felt my sore back muscle improve as well a deep relaxation which caused me to get drowsy (a desired effect for me personally). As someone who is a fan of indicas, suffered from back pain, anxiety, stress, and am required to go to bed early for work, this is absolutely the perfect strain for me!
