Drake is launching a Canadian cannabis brand

Champagne Papi is venturing into the regulated cannabis business.

Partnering with Canopy Growth, Drake’s More Life Growth Company joins the licensed producer’s roster of celebrity cannabis brands like Seth Rogen’s Houseplant, and Snoop Dogg’s Leafs By Snoop.

“When we first began talks with Drake we were extremely inspired by and aligned with his vision to bring best-in-class cannabis products to the world,” said Canopy Growth CEO Mark Zekulin in a press release.

“Drake’s perspective as a culture leader and entrepreneur combined with Canopy Growth’s breadth of cannabis knowledge will allow our new company to bring an unmatched cannabis experience to global markets.”

Fans of Drake will not be surprised by this move, as the artist regularly raps about cannabis on hit songs (“Back home smoking legal”) and has shown a penchant for opening mogul-solidifying consumer brands like Virginia Black whisky, international clothing brand October’s Very Own, and record label OVO Sound.

Moreover, the new cannabis venture shares a name with the rapper’s 2017 record-breaking “playlist” More Life. Touted to inspire wellness, discovery, and personal growth, the cannabis company aims to connect and share experiences on a global scale.

“The opportunity to partner with a world-class company like Canopy Growth on a global scale is really exciting,” shared Drake. “The idea of being able to build something special in an industry that is ever growing has been inspiring. More Life and More Blessing.”

As of writing, further details about More Life Growth are being kept under wraps. Its Instagram account is currently private punctuated with a “Coming Soon” descriptor, while representatives from the company say more information will become available in the coming weeks. So far we know the processing facility will be based on the east end of the GTA in Scarborough, with Drake retaining 60% ownership of the brand.

Here’s hoping we get “Free Smoke” dried flower, “So Far Gone” prerolls, “Pop Style” cannabis beverages, “Thank Me Later” CBD capsules, “HYFR” edibles, and a “Controlla” tincture.
