The Beautiful Sister

9/24/2017
The Beautiful Sister was so named because it was produced by cross pollination. The parentage is G-13 X Almighty, and I was given one seedling to try, out of a hundred. As often happens, one of the offspring was truly exceptional. I know a few other growers who tried other seedlings, but none were like this one. I was privileged to grow the Beautiful Sister, and immediately recognized her special qualities. The plant grew to 7" tall, and 8' across, a pretty good specimen for Maine. The branches were as plump as my arms, and a beautiful emerald green. The flowers contain a fair amount of small leaves, but they are as frosty as a north-facing window in February. The plant is fairly mold resistant, more so than many other strains, but the truly unique thing about the Beautiful Sister is the aroma. She smells unlike any other cannabis, with light, pungent floral scents that remind me of jasmine or hyacinth. I know many other growers who can wax eloquent about the "overtones of cheddar," or "hints of spruce and mint," but who were unable to pinpoint the specific and wonderful aroma of Beautiful Sister. The high reminds one of the Almighty parent, buzzy, excitable, and full of energy, it is an excellent daytime smoke that enhances conversation, music, and almost any pleasurable experience. Four years later, three people have cloned mothers, and six other growers are enjoying Beautiful Sister. All of the offspring are consistent with the mother clone, all produce an average of 12-16 oz/plant, and all have that incredible smell. This strain is a keeper, and will become my own contribution to cannabis culture in the US.

Platinum Kush

As an outdoor grower in Maine, this plant was a disappointment. It exhibits a propensity to mold, and does not bulk up and produce as well as other indica strains. It looks stringy and weak, and does not have exceptional smell.

I have been growing outdoors in Maine for over 30 years, and on a whim, I tried SBR, honestly, because of its charming name. Side by side with other strains, it has poor outdoor performance, including extreme suceptability to grey mold, low yield, and unexceptional scent. I will not grow it again.
