Cards Against Humanity ‘Weed Pack’ Will Help Fund Legalization

Gage PeakeLast updated July 28, 2020

The cheeky card game Cards Against Humanity recently added a so-called Weed Pack to its product lineup, packaging the game cards much like legal cannabis:

But the self-described “party game for horrible people” isn’t just cashing in on cannabis—it’s also putting its money where its ill-mannered mouth is. The company announced at the Weed Pack’s launch that it had donated $70,000 to the Marijuana Policy Project advocacy group as part of a push to legalize adult-use cannabis in Illinois.

On top of the $70,000 donation, Cards Against Humanity says it will donate to MPP all profits from Weed Pack sales.

“We’re proud to support the Marijuana Policy Project because our current marijuana laws are failing,” Cards Against Humanity head writer Jo Feldman said in a statement. “Nationally there are more arrests for marijuana possession each year than for all violent crimes combined. The MPP has been at the forefront of changing marijuana laws for the better, in Illinois and nationwide.”

Lawmakers in Illinois introduced a bill to legalize adult-use cannabis in March. The bill, which calls for allowing possession, personal cultivation, and sales of small amounts of cannabis, is scheduled for review in January. It would tax cannabis at $50 per ounce at the wholesale level, plus standard sales tax.

You can find the Weed Pack on the company’s website, but first you should definitely check out the commercial.

You can still grab the Weed Pack for $5. We'll always donate all profits to the MPP. First, watch our commercial: https://t.co/ETgWKBFGh4
