Jack Herer

Smells adjacent to.. creosote? Very herbal smell. Akin to the air in an ice skating rink. Sometimes like cat piss.. ozonic, like the air in a pine valley.. hard to pin down. Controversial, and polarizing, but a personal favorite, and proper medicine, in a world short of it, so to speak. This one is a fiver from me, and a must try in my book. Wouldn't pick it all day, but would probably pick it at the start of every day, if I could.

Biskante

5/21/2025
Received in the form of smalls, this strain is a true 50/50 hybrid. I love biscotti but am not so fond of the melonade, so I picked this one with a grain of salt--it tends to make me anxious, biting my nails and the like. It's primarily energizing on the front end, with the indica falloff on the latter half. The nose is lemon tree-forwards, with a biscotti undertone (more so a musk than a proper nose). It makes for a complex aroma, a great citrusy taste, and a quick onset. I feel generally mentally relaxed, but my body is active. A functional daytime strain; though I've been saving this one for my days off, if that's any indication of the headspace it might put you in. I'm sure I *could* get things done, but why would I want to?

Jenny Kush

3/4/2025
I've had the Jenny Kush twice now, from Humboldt Farms both times--medium-large foxtail nugs, a medium green, quite airy and amber-dusted. Easy to peel down from the stems. Tropical aromas open, but as it lingers you get what I'd describe as a more floral-scented OG (think: more piney than "musty" as far as kush); diesel notes on the backend as well. As for the effects, Jenny is mentally relaxing while providing energy to the body--a switchup from the typical hybrid in my experience. You'll still be a bit lazy, but you can get through the day, and for that I think Jenny is the one. I've had a great many strains, and as a budtender, this is top 3 for me. If you get the chance, I highly recommend! :)

Sour Apple

2/13/2025
My batch of Sour Apple was grown by Green Sweep Op. The buds are a bright emerald green, with shapes varying from finger-shaped to more spadelike forms. When ground up, the aroma is undeniably gassy, with a definitive green-apple note. Fruity overtones are complimented by a pine-forward odor and some funk from the Sour D. Interestingly enough, the freshly ground scent smells just like concentrate/hash. Definitely reminiscent of OG but it won’t put you to bed as quickly! This ought to be good smoke for any time of day, I’ve been using it to start my mornings and as a pick-me-up in the midafternoon. Very uplifting mentally, but cerebral rather than stimulating. Your mind will be active, but it’ll be swimming around in space—probably not the best strain for high-focus tasks. Definitely recommend this strain for anyone looking for something that will uplift you without putting you to bed—just be careful with the Sour if you’re prone to getting emotional!

Banjo

1/31/2025
I procured the Banjo from Coastal Sun Farms, the buds are dry and kiefy, very terpy, and a jade, lime-rind green color. They're relatively small (1-2") and spindly -- The Aroma is a musky tangerine; a friend of mine said it smells like an orange that fell from the tree and sat out in the sun, I think that's accurate, but in my mind it rests somewhere between tangerine and vomit.. As far as cannabis strains go, I think this one smells somewhat pleasant, especially to a novice nose I could see this being a good choice. Reminds me a lot of lemon skunk / tangie burger. -- The taste is definitely similar, and comparable. A touch hazey, but citrussy, floral, zesty, and cheesy.--For effects, Banjo leaves me feeling energized, spaced out, and just a touch stoney. It's functional, but it's definitely a moderately sedative strain. It gives me a touch of anxiety, making me want to start chewing my nails, oddly enough. I recommend this strain for novice users, with a warning to use it in good company. It might make you a little spaced out, or make you reflect on something you've been putting off... if you give it the time to ride, and embrace the feelings that come, this can be a positive, uplifting strain. Just don't expect it to make you super productive!
