Making Homemade Slime: Is It Worth the High?

Welcome to “Is It Worth the High?”, where our writers see newly released movies, listen to the latest album drops, and try other experiences while high to determine whether they’re worth your time, money, and most importantly, your cannabis buzz. This week, Dante Jordan gets crafty with the help of a lil’ cannabis and tries making homemade slime.

High Experienced (1-10): 7, uplifted and happy

So you’re looking for something fun/interesting to get high and do, but you’ve run out of ideas. You’ve watched every new Netflix show, you’ve gone on as many walks as possible, and there is no art museum that has not been graced by your presence. But now, it’s time to think outside of the box and do something new. I’ve been there, and it’s exactly why I’m making homemade slime right now to see if this is worth your high or if you should find another activity.

Over the past year, making homemade slime has swept across the internet so swiftly, you can barely find a YouTube video about it that doesn’t have millions of views. It’s wild. So the Double Dare fan in me decided to get stoned and see what all the hype is about.

How to Make Homemade Slime

To make slime you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • 2-4 bottles of school glue (Elmer’s, Cra-Z-Art, etc.)
  • Borax (a detergent booster found in the laundry aisle)
  • 2 bowls (actual bowls, not bong/pipe bowls)
  • A spoon, stirring rod, or anything that helps mix substances together
  • Water (tap, bottled, toilet, etc.)
  • Food coloring
  • Glitter
  • Cannabis flower/concentrate (for consumption purposes only. DO NOT INFUSE YOUR SLIME.)

Now that you’ve got your ingredients, here’s the recipe:

Step 1: Roll up/load up/smoke up your green goods and get so high that you can no longer feel your eyebrows.

Step 2: Gather yourself, then grab your two crafting bowls. In one bowl, pour in some of the glue you purchased. However much you should use depends on how much slime you want (I used two bottles). In the other bowl, pour 1 cup (8 oz) of water.

Step 3: Drop some food coloring in your glue bowl and top it off with some glitter for that sparkly galaxy effect, then mix it together. Are food coloring and glitter necessary? No. But without it, you’ll just have a boring-ass white blob with no personality and all the cool kids will make fun of you. In the other bowl, drop a teaspoon of borax into the water and mix it up.

Step 4: Pour a little bit of the borax solution into your glue bowl, mix it up, and watch the slime blob begin to form. If the glue is too sticky, add more water until it blobs up nicely. And BAM, just like that, you have your galaxy slime.

Step 5: Bask in your glory as you are now a real scientist, my friend. Matter fact, as you play with your slime and knead it around your fingers, go ahead and smoke a little bit more. You earned it.

Is Making Homemade Slime Worth the High?

For sure. It’s a fun little craft that doesn’t require much time or effort, and the slime running through your fingers feels oddly satisfying. Get high enough and you’ll be sitting there for hours, just running it through your fingers as you reflect on life and how you never knew you were capable of such scientific accomplishments.

In addition to that, the ball of slime also doubles as a stress ball for when you need to rid your body, mind, and soul of negative energy. Get high and enjoy, my friend. I’ll see you for the next activity.
