My 14-year-old arthritic cat was lounging in my lap as we enjoyed a morning bowl. (I don't force her, she puts her face in the exhalation stream and complains if the flow isn't just right.) It clearly helped her pain and she really enjoyed her red dot after that. I didn't let her go too long, because she might hurt herself, but then she went and found an interesting window.
