Harvest HOC - Scottsdale (Med)

8/5/2019
Used to be my dispensary of choice. Not so sure, anymore. The staff and service are top-notch. The atmosphere is near-clinical, but somehow inviting. And until recently, the flower at least felt carefully selected. My most recent visit, I picked up a number of strains, mostly quarters. Unlike the display flower, what I recieved (nearly the entire ounce and a half across eight varieties) was so wet that the sticks would not snap, the flower wouldn't grind (unless you set it out to air for 2-3 hours, but when you have pets, that's more than a little tricky) but instead compressed into tight little balls, and was utterly useless out of a vaporizer. The worst part is that I've got it all stored with 2-way humidity packs (Boveda), hoping to lower their moisture content, and I had four of my strains, totaling 3/4oz remaining, thoroughly mold over. I'm not sure how much mold I inhaled, loading bowls in the dark with a migraine, but I've been coughing persistently for a couple weeks and my asthma refuses to chill out. I didn't physically touch the flowers while moving them from bags to jars, so I doubt I was the source of contamination. My storage jars were new, so I doubt they were the source of contamination. Ymmv, but I'll be asking how dry any given batch is, from now on, if I even come back.

My first hit of this was from a vape as a wake-and-bake. I was not prepared to be kicked into gear nearly that hard, given that discussions with my budtender led me to believe it would be more of a gentle lift (I tend to stick to indicas, but a friend recommended it). I found myself powering through a morning workout and enjoying it thoroughly, while shouting Mr. Torgue quotes. This strain is also on-point for action gaming. Some munchies, but not overwhelming. Decent for mild pain, but not a strain I'd turn to for pain management.

Cherry Cream Pie

Re-evaluation: a friend heard of my negative experience with this strain, and offered me some he'd been curing for a while. The flavors are MUCH improved, nearly to the point of decadence. The high is far more potent, though still far from what I would call thorough or satisfying. still not viable for my conditions. while earning two more stars for flavor and potency, it really deserves more like a 3.7-3.8 rating, IMO.

Cherry Cream Pie

I must have recieved a particularly poor cut. While having decent bag appeal, this strain tasted more like Cherry Garlic Skunk Anus. Although testing around 19%, the high was weak and uninspiring, nor did it show promise for my particular medical needs. Rarely do I regret purchasing a new strain, but I'd be lying if I said I was eager to give this one another chance. Method: vaporized with a Firefly2

Moose and Lobsta

2/14/2017
What are you still reading these reviews for?! GET TO THE MOOSE AND LOBSTA!!! The example I got is lime green and tangerine, on first glance, but on magnification shows peach shades. The nugs are dense, sticky, and aromatic - the first smell left a heady jet fuel smell lodged in my sinuses, which gave way to diesel and an array of tropical fruits. The first hit... ah, sweet magic! Guava, kiwi, passion fruit, and lime ushered me into the wondrous realm of higher (and higher) self, leading to a fiery affair with diesel, ending with a kiss of pineapple. As you relax into the beauteous flavours, pain dissolves into existential bliss and nirvijuana greets you with open arms and a smile, and contentment washes over you; this is a good time to socialize with close friends. As the dominant sativa effects mellow, the heavier psychoactive effects of the indica side begin to take hold; expect body tingles, mild to moderate couchlock, and vivid mental imagery late in the session. Easily my new go-to sativa.

Strong with thc force, this one is. Imbibe to meditate after a long day of training, you should. Find peace and oneness, you will. Leave behind pain and suffering; the munchies, we have.

SFV Dog

2/13/2017
SFV Dog is quickly becoming a staple strain for me. Between the mellow citrus flavors that aren't overwhelmed by earthiness, and its ability to take me from an ADD mess to the fost mocused I've ever been (no, really, this strain CRUSHES Attention Deficit), I'll be picking this strain up frequently. As a note, the sample I got was potent, testing at over 28% thc. Be careful with this one, as it's possible to overdo it, even with moderate tolerance.

Critical Widow

2/13/2017
Critical Widow nugs are dense and resinous, with high bag appeal. I'm not sure if I got an off phenotype, but this batch from Harvest smells strongly of pickles, tasting much the same, though that is my only real complaint. While smooth, it still lets you know you're getting something. I find myself relaxed yet energetic, mildly social and quietly contemplative with this strain as my L4-L5 disc pain eases itself into the hot tub of Critical Widow.
