As a huge indica fan in a state where truly quality indicas are few and far between, I jumped on this strain as soon as I saw it despite the fact that it was mids. Pure indicas, much less famous landraces, do not show up here often. Jar appeal was decent. Tiny nugs but absolutely covered in dense orange pistils and a thick dusting of amber trichs… told me right there it was gonna annihilate body pain, and I was right. Very spicy, woodsy, herbal scent close to cedar or tobacco. A VERY unique smell that I wasn’t expecting. Taste is the same. I live with a cigar enthusiast, and smoking this strain is exactly like what some aromatic, expensive cigars smell like before they’re lit and become horrible. Don’t tell him I said that. The first night with this strain, I was slapped in the head and face with the heaviest, tingliest, giggliest high. It was ridiculous. I watched Peacemaker and laughed until I cried, then I pestered my brother and my dog like a teenager who had her first margarita. It was great. I do not get to that level with flower alone anymore, at 21% (which is quite good for an indica) I was not expecting that. Terpenes are real, science bitch! It’s been a few days and my brain has gotten more used to the strain. I have not gotten that head high since then. I feel it in my face for sure, and get some bloodhound eyes going, but I actually am extremely clear-headed. Again, a very unique experience that feels hard to describe. It’s one of those highs that trick you into thinking you could drive safely. But what it did most for me, that can’t be overstated, is get rid of my body pain. For months I’ve been having that kind of agonizing, shooting pain in my shoulder joints that doctors have thrown NSAIDs, muscle relaxers, and opiates at while they try to figure out the problem. None of it helps more than 1-2 hours at a time, and as hard as it is to live with being in pain constantly, it’s outright impossible to live life completely gone on a combination of all those pills. I can’t sleep 16 hours a day and then spend the waking time sitting there in a stupor. All while not being able to poop. Good times. And funnily enough this is where Afghani comes in hot a second time. I picked this up for insomnia after taking a hiatus from all the meds. But because it focuses so much on a body stone, and cerebral effects are much clearer, it actually doesn’t make me sleepy at all. It’s a unicorn indica strain that I can smoke literally first thing in the morning and all day/night long if I needed to, and it does not make me sleepy whatsoever. For a powerful painkiller strain, that’s usually a side effect you have to make peace with! Relaxed, yes, calm and easygoing, definitely. Sleepy like an Ambien? Not even close. I can function while not having pain, and it’s hard to find an indica like that. The genetics in Afghani are incredible. I’m getting ready to start my grow journey and this strain will be a permanent fixture in my house if I can get my hands on some good beans.

As far as Indica landraces go, I'd say this is my all-time favorite. I've smoked boatloads of it in my lifetime. Dense nuggets that just have that beautiful "indica" smell 😋. I would also say there is a mild flowery/saffron element to the smell and taste. The high is good and relaxing. Perfect for chillin' after work and relaxing in bed. Great for sleep as well.

Afghani is the bomb when it comes to pain relief. When my pain levels go above 7, i reach for Afghani. A couple of hits and it starts lowering the pain level to a more tolerable level. A couple of more and the world is a beautiful place and I'm happy to be here.

This has been my night time goto since 2018. One of a few strains I can feel "coming on" if I haven't had any for a few days. I have ADHD, Clinical Depression, Anxiety and a rare Central nervous system senzititis. The symptoms are Photo Phobia, Nausea, hyperacusis, bi lateral tension headache. I have severe Industrial Tinnitus and can't watch TV for long or go to movies so I collect and grow plants of various strains and strengths. I have tried many strains, hybrids and methods but Affi and I spend every evening together.
