I would say if you were smoking herb on the east coast anywhere between the mid 90's up until 2008, you know all about this one. Bastard nuggets! These buds were thick, dense, and covered in red/orange hairs (sometimes yellow). Nugs were usually wet and smelled like hay from being shipped from Canada. There were a handful of times mold developed from moisture. I have a love/hate relationship with Beaster. At one point, this was considered Chronic/Kind bud in my area, and it was overpriced as well. A gram looked like a bowl pack due to the density and moisture. I'm sure this strain is awesome when grown/dried/cured correctly. It's a very sleepy strain and one I wouldn't mind revisiting after all these years. For now, R.I.P Beaster. you'll forever be in my heart. Also, good riddance, you Canadian scum lol.

When I think of "Beasters" or smuggled BC Bud, I think of this strain and "Maple". Believe it or not kiddies, some people actually bred cannabis specifically to reduce smell in order to be able to grow and smuggle it easier. This strain is probably the best example of it. It ends up neutering the plant and giving you product that is simply "better then schwag" and that is simply how people tended to look at it. The era I am talking about is like 98-03ish. We would sometimes find hay straws in our bag. My rust belt city has hosted International Hells Angels conventions and everybody in the area knew about the "cheap biker weed". Tended to be able to get an 1/8th for 40 bucks. So in high school, at one point, I was impressed with this stuff. My how times have changed. I doubt this would really be able to sell on any market today. BC Bud used to dominate many areas of this country. I could get very high quality homegrown stuff, but beasters were always there and everybody had them. This strain in particular did nothing special, tended to have no smell to an odd smell. Sometimes I wonder if they were actually trying to match the smells of truck containers and the road. If that was the case, then I'd have to give the breeder props to ingenuity. I do wonder how this bud would look fresh and grown properly. Because the stuff I was seeing was being grown in massive illegal hydro grows, run by criminal organizations often using forced labors/human trafficked workers that do not flush or care about the end consumer. The lack of love put into the plant was palatable. Obviously, people who harm others are not going to often produce quality cannabis. Nobody I knew ever tried to grow any bag seeds of this stuff. When I was a 16 year old buying this stuff, I had no idea that by the time I was 35 I would be able to use my medical card to purchase cannabis extracts in a store.

This strain was the main strain of Montreal ten years ago plus 2004-2009. I smoked it many times. It was an affordable decent weed. Bit of a heavy body high, but also made me feel aroused, and in a good mood. Problems with M-39 often then was it was often rushed, and not eased off it’s feedings or flushed, and would have dark ash with harsh smoke and dried flower that wouldn’t stay lit well in joints. Mostly it was middle of the road smoke and what I normally got was finished okay. It grows fairly ease from colons, and it grown outdoors as well, then known as Quebec Gold.

I enjoyed this strain. I felt like I needed a bit more to keep my buzz going but it wasn’t bad. The taste is nice and the feeling is relaxing. All in all not too bad.

I used to smoke a lot of that when I was younger, around 20 years ago. This was very popular in Quebec back then and very cheap. ''Tu veux-tu du 39 l'gros?'' I wouldn't say it's a particularly remarkable weed, even when properly grown. It probably was back then but now the strains have become so much better that unless you enjoy low-to-medium THC weed (some do and it's totally fine) I would go for something else.
