Donny Burger

6/28/2026
So I've got a cut of outdoor Donny Burger from Heads in Michigan and I am very impressed. The nugs are dark green, extremely dense, and it reeks of grilled hamburger & spicy beef jerky. Tastes like spicy, hashy beef jerky; I love beef jerky so I am in hog heaven with the Donny Burger. It's a Chem D type of flavor, a succulent combination of meaty/spicy/peppery/hashy notes. This strain is such an incredible evolution of GMO; it has the taste of GMO in it, but it doesn't taste like GMO because it's completely different and there's so much more going on. You get hints of GMO and Chem D the smell, taste, and effects (heavy indica sedation). Was this strain created in memory of Donny from The Big Lebowski? I like to think so. But in any event, the Donny Burger abides. More like Danky Burger.

Trop Cherry

6/26/2026
I have been enjoying the Tropicana Cherry from POW in Ohio, and it has quickly become one of my favorite go-to daytime sativas. It's an example of a strain that is very simple and very good - smells like cherry & citrus nestled in a hazy bed of terpinolene, with a very energizing and (functionally) euphoric high. It's a joy to smoke, such a nice cherry citrus flavor, and the high goes straight to your head and heart - the head is activated, the heart is beating faster, and you just feel like doing something. It's a great one to smoke if I'm going to lift weights or when I go hiking, I never smoke it if I want to chill because it's definitely not a "chill" sort of high. It's racy and it doesn't take much, only a small bowl; any more than that and I would be bouncing off the walls with a horrible headache.

Super Runtz

6/8/2026
am enjoying the Super Runtz cut from Pure Ohio Wellness, which they market as "Super Fruit" (purchased at POW London, Ohio). I am a Runtz fan so I was naturally interested in this one. As you would expect, the nugs have the same camera-friendly quality that Runtz inherited from grandpa Gelato, but it also inherited it's terpene profile from grandpa Zkittelz - and that makes this strain a sort of homecoming and culmination of sorts. Why? Because this Super Runtz from POW is the strain we all wish Zkittelz had been from the beginning. Everybody loves the smell and taste of Zkittelz, but the Achilles' Heel has always been it's potency - it just wasn't there, that's why everybody loves to breed with it, to get some potency to go with those terps. Super Runtz has the Zkittelz terps in spades - that heavenly cornucopia of apricot, blackberry, pineapple, grapefruit, sour green apple laffy taffy, just all the fruit flavors rolled into one juicy combination. Tastes like Zkittelz, just amazing, but this time we get Zkittelz with strong potency - the Super Runtz has a very relaxing and strong body stone, with an electric buzzing throughout my body. This strain smells and tastes so good that I was inspired to "hotbox" my car with it, like we did back in high school (I'm 44). So on a nice & breezy saturday night in May, I hotboxed my car with a big bowl of the Super Fruit and I was enveloped in that cloud of danky fruity goodness when I realized that Super Runtz is the strain we all wish Zkittelz had been from the beginning - so you know what you need to do.

Northern Lights

5/18/2026
So I'm enjoying the NL from Firelands in Ohio. I grew up in the 90's and Northern Lights was the most legendary strain of that era, it was a household strain name that everybody had heard of but virtually nobody had actually smoked it (in rural Ohio). But fast-forward to 2026 and I am loving the store-purchased NL, it's got a smell you don't see everyday: a really nice combination of pine, mint, and cinnamon with sage on the back end. Sage is a scent that I often encounter in terpinolene-dominant sativas but this is the first time I've encountered it in an indica. It's got a sweet and minty taste that I really savor, and the effects make it one of my favorite indicas I've ever smoked. It's a strong electric buzzing throughout my body, with tons of muscle relaxation; also has a cerebral stony side. And I get amazing sleep on the Northern Lights, I rate this 10/10 and it's up there with my favorite indicas, the Blueberries, Chems, and OGs.

Chocolope

5/2/2026
So I've been enjoying the Chocolope cut from Wellspring Fields in Ohio. The smell is a combination of chocolate, coffee, spice, fruit, and a little bit of that danky myrcene musk like you see in Blueberries. It tastes the same, with the distinct taste of cantaloupe (obviously from the Cannalope Haze). It's got such a nice high - it's very cerebrally-stony, highly euphoric, super dreamy, and nicely relaxing. It reminds me of the Blue Dream high in a way, it's a sativa that is more stony and relaxing than uplifting and energizing, it's a great evening sativa for music or movies or general chilling, day or night. It's one I prefer in the early evening because it's more relaxing than something I want during the day, like a Super Silver Haze or Hiker's Blend. I've been getting blazed on the delicious chocolatey Chocolope and listening to everything from Mozart Piano Concerti to The Prodigy, it's a musical amplifier for sure. With a nice electric buzzing in my brain and the sweet taste of chocolate, coffee, and cantaloupe in my mouth, I can see why the Chocolope is a beloved modern classic.

Blue Andez

4/30/2026
I've been enjoying a cut of the outdoor Blue Andeze from GRIP in Michigan. Smells like chocolate with that familiar danky myrcene musk from the Blueberry on the back end, a really nice smell. Tastes like danky chocolate and smokes super smooth, it's a very satisfying smoke. Effects are nicely relaxing, it's not as strong as Blueberry strains typically are but it's strong enough, and I'm sure the indoor cuts are much more potent.

Blue Dream

2/24/2026
Blue Dream - a GOAT strain. This cut smells like blueberry with extra candy sweetness, like blueberry-flavored Sweet Tarts candy (if there was such a thing) with a little bit of that familiar earthy/herbal dankness (aka the myrcene musk) that you always get from Blueberry strains. Tastes like Sweet Tarts with the sour tartness of raspberry, and it's one of the best highs in all of cannabis. I think of the Blue Dream high as a strong euphoria and dreaminess of body and mind that's great for relaxing.

MAC

2/24/2026
So I've been enjoying the MAC from Lume in Michigan and it's not hard to see why this strain was such a big hit when it first came out back in 2020 and 2021. For starters, MAC has some of the densest trichome coverage I've ever seen; the trichomes are so dense that even under a magnifying glass, they look like they were poured on the nugs as a liquid glazing. The only strain I've seen with denser trichome coverage is the Miracle Mints, which is an outstanding outcross of MAC. It smells nice, a strong orange/minty smell that smells exactly like Orange Tic Tacs; tastes the same on inhale and aftertaste. I love the buzz of MAC - it's a strong and stony buzz of mind and body that's great for music, I love to put on my headphones and get lost in Mozart and Bach with the MAC.

Super Silver Haze

2/24/2026
Super Silver Haze has quickly become one of my all-time favorite sativas. From Hillfire in Ohio (purchased at OCC in Piqua), the nugs smell like sweet metallic terpinolene; sometimes a citrus note comes through. Tastes the same, it is so cool to smoke weed that tastes like sweet metal. And it's an energizing, electric, euphoric high up-front that changes into a relaxed and thoughtful high. This is a daytime sativa but it's not my favorite to smoke if I'm working or hiking, etc. because it's more stony, dreamy, and euphoric; this is a peerless strain for chilling during the day, like if you went fishing or to a concert. It's a fantastic strain for playing the guitar, or any musical instrument. I love the SSH and I have to make myself not smoke it every day, it's that good.

Apple Pie

2/24/2026
So I've been enjoying this cut of outdoor Apple Pie from Oceana Gardens in Michigan. It has some interesting parent genetics; Acapulco Gold is a legendary strain of the 60's and 70's, and a Nepalese landrace sativa is rumored to be one of the parents of Chem Dog. It smells of green apple and cinnamon; smells like hot apple pie when it burns, and it's got a nice euphoric & cerebrally-stony high. I like the Apple Pie on its own but when I roll joints of half Apple Pie, half Pineapple Express, they're some of the tastiest joints I've ever smoked.
