New Strains Alert: Marmalade, La Blanca Gold, and More

Published on February 16, 2018 · Last updated July 28, 2020

Leafly’s New Strains Alert is an ongoing series that announces cannabis strains recently added to our database. Leave a rating and review for any you’ve tried, or find out if a strain is available in your area, by clicking through to the strain page.

Welcome back to Leafly’s New Strains Alert. This week, we’ve added new cuts from Vision Seeds, High Noon Cultivation, and Solstice. Included in these selections are two CBD-rich strains we’re particularly excited about.

Marmalade from Solstice combines Blueberry Cheesecake and the CBD-dominant staple, Sour Tsunami. CBD strains are not usually known for their flavorful terpene profiles, which makes fragrant cuts like Marmalade a welcome exception.

Medical 49 combines Vision Seeds’ love of skunky genetics with the AK-47 offshoot, AK-49. Loud and potent, Medical 49 embellishes the aromas of its lineage while showing off complex cannabinoid profiles.

If you’ve had the pleasure of trying any of these cannabis cultivars, leave a review and help inform the community!

Doctor Jamaica is Vision Seed’s cut of the famous California Orange (a.k.a. Cali-O). This strain is relatively easy to grow and offers up an alluring aroma of fresh squeezed oranges. While this plant might only yield an average harvest with average potency, the flavor and effects of Doctor Jamaica are worth the space in your garden. Its balanced euphoria and physical relaxation give this strain a functional and enjoyable buzz that can enhance most situations at the right dose.

La Blanca Gold cannabis strain tile
La Blanca Gold

La Blanca Gold by Vision Seeds is a skunky blend of potent genetics. It gets its name from the decadent amount of trichomes this plant produces, glazing the surfaces of the flowers and leaves in a sheen of white gold. This generous resin production comes from its lineage of Super Skunk, Great White, and Skunk #1. Growing as a large plant, La Blanca Gold has an ample yield and an average 9-week flowering cycle. Enjoy La Blanca Gold’s tranquil, relaxing buzz near the end of the day to help reduce stress.

Medical 49 cannabis strain tile
Medical 49

Medical 49 by Vision Seeds is a sedating, CBD-rich cross of potent genetics. Created by crossing Russian Snow, AK-49, and Skunk No.1, Medical 49 inherits AK-49’s structure and coloration along with the pungent aromas of its more fragrant parents. This plant retains a short, squat structure that makes it ideal for low-profile growing. It has an approximate flowering time of 8-9 weeks. Enjoy Medical 49’s 1:1 THC/CBD ratio for alleviating anxiety, inflammation, and pain.

Bona Dea cannabis strain tile
Bona Dea

Bona Dea, also known as The Good Goddess, is a cross of Northern LightsBlack Domina, and Afghani. Created by Vision Seeds, this trio of classic strains comes together to create a resilient and resinous CBD-rich flower with enticing aromatic qualities. The smell and aroma are spicy and peppery, while the effects are lush and sedative. This 1:1 CBD strain is an excellent choice for consumers trying to mute stress and encourage rest.

High Noon Irish Cream cannabis strain tile
High Noon Irish Cream

High Noon Irish Cream is a cross of The Real McCoy and Cookies & Cream. Created by High Noon Cultivation of Oregon, this selected phenotype expresses a balance of its parents’ best traits. It has a sweet but sharp oil and skunky nose with underlying notes of peppercorn and spice. The bud structure gains its density and glistening trichome coverage from its frosty Cookies & Cream father. This strain’s coloration spans many different shades of green that contrast against dark purple sugar leaves. High Noon Irish Cream’s aroma is a vibrant and sweet bouquet of citrus that invigorates taste buds on the inhale. The effects of this well-balanced hybrid tend toward a stony, cerebral euphoria that is great for leisurely activities as well as relieving digestive discomfort and muscle soreness

The Real McCoy cannabis strain tile
The Real McCoy

The Real McCoy by The Flying Dutchmen is the progeny of a Hawaiian mother crossed with The Pure (AKA Original Skunk No.1). This heir of two classic old school genetics grows forest green buds accented by subtle purples hues. Its aroma is a combination of spilt oil and pungent skunk. The high is front-loaded by cerebral euphoria ideal for people watching, enjoying nature, or soaking in your favorite album. Its flavor is a complex layering of sweet floral tastes with funky and woody tones. The Real McCoy is great for relieving stress, relaxing your mind, and calibrating your focus with the present moment.
